Music as Motivator

Yoga is seen as a spiritual pursuit, but I can’t think of one time that I actually cried in class. I have had emotional classes and Camel Pose is always good for a moment of honesty and self-realization. On the other hand, spin classes (specifically classes at Flywheel) are always almost emotive. Is it the class, the adrenaline, the exertion? Is it the music? I am hoping that a lot of the motivation, the drive that brings me to spinning can also get me to strap on some sneakers and get outside before work. I really want to add running to my exercise routine. It’s free, I have the shoes and clothes all ready to go and I live close to Central Park. But I just can’t get my butt out the door. Maybe Beyonce can help me? In my Flywheel class today, we listened to Beyonce’s “XO” during the arm work – LOVED IT! Please Beyonce – please be the push I need to get myself out the door. I can’t listen to “Run The World (Girls)” without strutting down the street. Can that feeling of empowerment get me running again – and maybe actually like it this time? I hope so… Now to work on a playlist.
