For National Doughnut Day, Dough introduced a Matcha doughnut. While I was unable to get one that day, I wasn’t worried. I knew it would happen sooner rather than later. This morning, after dropping my daughter off at school, I walked into Dough – as I do most weekdays. There were two people in front of me, it was clear they were newbies. They walked up to the counter and asked “what is that green one?!” Much to my dismay, the woman behind the counter said she didn’t know. The horror! I let them know it was the Matcha doughnut. What? Doesn’t everyone follow their local doughnut store on Instagram? When it was my turn, I bought two. One for me, one for my trusty sidekick Erinn. This is how the tasting went…
Erinn: thoughts on it?

me: Just took my first big bite
Erinn: I thought the same thing yet…highly addiction
me: But I think this is what Macha tastes like
me: I want to take another bite and understand what I am eating.
The sugar is great, as always. As is the doughnut itself.
Erinn: right definitely
me: I think it’s so intense when you first bite into it, it’s overwhelming. But then it’s yummy all of a sudden
Erinn: that’s the best way to describe it

To summarize, strange but good. Not sure it would be my number one pick but it’s nice to try something new. And, as is always the case with Dough, the doughnut itself is so good, it almost doesn’t matter what is on top.
